Bundaberg

Bundaberg

We only stayed on night at Bundy. After a drive through the town to get a feel we decided that not a lot of activities appealed to us. I would have liked to go to Mon Repos but seeing as we weren’t in turtle season we decided we would be back to do that one later.

Bundaberg Rum Distillery

We weren’t sure on arrival whether we should pay for just the museum or do the full tour, which cost $60 for 2 adults (it is cheaper online but you need to book 24 hours ahead). We went with the full tour and were glad we did. The tour guide was great and kept it interesting. We liked hearing about the history or rum and how it was used as currency. At the end of the tour we both got 2 shots to try in the bar afterwards. We picked the award winning rums of the world 2016 and 2017. We figured if you were buying this at a bar on their own we definitely got our value for money for the tour cost!

No Photos were allowed on the actual tour.

Our Accomodation

We decided to test out a free camp we found on Wiki Camps called Fallons Rock Reserve. Troy is a bit fishing mad so he decided to bring us through the mangroves to a secluded spot. It’s 4WD only but he was determined to get our camper through. Troy’s rating of the site would be 5 stars, although from me I gave it a 1 star because of the Mozzies and Sandflies. It was a beautiful spot although a lot of young 4WD went through and rubbish was left around the place.
