Clermont
Clermont, a small mining, cattle and agricultural town that has your basic necessities. We stopped in for a few items from their IGA and waited around for the doctor to try and sort out Troy’s earache. It was very difficult to keep the kids amused during this time with very little to look at and do. Theresa Creek Dam was what attracted us to the area and we were glad we decided to pull up here.
Things We Can Suggest
Take a picture with the mural painted on 4 old train carriages. See if you can find the tree frog in each picture.
Visit or stay a while at Theresa Creek Dam. We intended to stay a couple of nights but it was such a gorgeous spot we extended our stay for a couple more. The dam had turtles, eels, ducks and other bird species to look at. There were shallow water spots to swim and water sports areas. There was a great playground with a cafe for the big kids. Toilets, showers and drinking water; what more do you want for $15 a night.
Our Accomodation
We had a river front location at Theresa Creek Dam it was a gorgeous spot but even in September the heat was quite bad during the day. If I were to come back with kids I would definitely be heading for the area closest to the playground/cafe. It was up on the hill which had a bit more breeze and also was the only spot with WiFi reception. The playground was here also so the kids would have been able to be supervised from your site. They put sprinklers on near the cafe so this kept things a lot cooler as well. They put a big screen on for footy nights etc at the cafe and the toilet/shower block is situated on the hill near the cafe too.
